Who We Are

We are a group of people from many walks of life who share one common problem: alcoholism. Through the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, many of us have found a new way of living without alcohol.

Our fellowship is informal and welcoming. There are no membership cards, sign-up sheets, or fees. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Our Primary Purpose

In keeping with AA’s primary purpose, Elk Grove Fellowship exists to:

• Provide a safe and supportive place for alcoholics to meet.
• Share experience, strength, and hope with each other.
• Carry the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

We do not offer professional counseling or treatment. We simply share what has worked for us and follow the principles laid out in Alcoholics Anonymous.

What to Expect at a Meeting

If you are new, you are welcome to simply sit and listen. Many of us did the same at our first meetings.

• Meetings usually begin with readings from AA literature.
• Members share their experience with alcoholism and recovery.
• There is no obligation to speak, and no one will single you out.
• We ask that people refrain from cross-talk (directly commenting on others’ shares).

You do not have to “join” anything or make any promises. Just bring yourself and an open mind.

Anonymity & Traditions

Anonymity is a core principle of Alcoholics Anonymous. What is shared in meetings is treated with respect and kept within the fellowship.

Elk Grove Fellowship is just one local AA group and is not affiliated with any outside organization, institution, or political body. We are self-supporting through our own voluntary contributions.
